🎙️ Why do I sing jazz? 🎙️

At my shows, I always encourage guests to come up and speak with me - before, during and after - to get to know me. People often ask me why I sing jazz and swing - where I trained or how I got into it - and honestly, it has all routed from day one.

My parents met in a Big Band and my sisters and I grew up surrounded by it - the laughter and waltzing of Christmas Dances, the warmth of the saxophones, the energy of swing pieces, and the way those melodies wrapped themselves around every person in the room. From a young age, jazz wasn’t just music to me, it was feeling I yearned for - there’s something about it that has always felt like home.

My favourites growing up were In The Mood, Pennsylvania 6-5000, American Patrol and Take The A Train, and as I discovered more artists, my love for it only grew more - Billie, Ella, Peggy, Sarah, Blossom, Duke, Louis, Frank, Bing, Mel, Dean, Bobby…the list goes on…(also always been a HUGE Judy fan from day one)!

I felt deeply connect to their stories, and fell in love with the power and the glamour…the way a single song or melody transport you back in time and make you feel so much - it just completely captured my soul.

…and that’s when I knew this is what I always wanted to create for others since a young age - to take an audience somewhere else for a while. To make them feel connected, nostalgic, alive, and just simply listen.

Every performance for me is a love letter to this timeless music. No two shows are the same, and each one is a chance to share the same magic that first caught my heart all those years ago.

This music still, and will always, move me, and it’s a privilege to play even a small part in keeping it alive. ✨
